Good Vibes Skydiving

NZ’s Largest Annual Skydiving Event;
set to be bigger and better

goodVibesGood Vibes ’09 (GV’09) is set to be the largest New Zealand skydiving event to date, held at Motueka Airport 15th – 23rd August. It is estimated that around 150 skydivers will attend this year’s Good Vibes Boogie and are coming from places all around the world to join in the 9 days of adrenalin fuelled fun. So far we know of sports skydivers that are flying over from as far afield as Denmark, Germany, UK, Japan and Canada with around 15 skydivers heading over from Australia too.  Spaceships is pleased to be one of the sponsors of Good Vibes Boogie 09!

The event itself will offer a diverse range of skydiving with all levels of all disciplines attending the event, flat flying to vertical flying, small and large formations, as well as canopy competitions and we hope to set some NZ skydiving records too. We have novelty jumps such as Sarah Skinner’s 1000th Jump, all the ladies participating in the jump will do so in their lingerie and the remainder available slots on the plane will be raffled off to keen males. All proceeds raised will go to jumpstart charity.

Friday 21st August will see a fantastic firework display thanks to Combat Pyrotechnics (based in Nelson). The display will start at dusk and we invite all locals to come and view the display with us.

Originally when the event was first established it ran over the course of a long weekend however this year, the same as last year, Good Vibes will run for 9 days. Good Vibes was first launched in 2003 as a two day event to bring New Zealand’s skydiving community together. Since then it has grown and is now known as New Zealand’s largest skydiving festival. Originally Good Vibes was a chance for the relatively small group of New Zealand skydivers, to come together, skydive, share stories and learn from each other. Although this foundation still applies today, Good Vibes is now the largest skydiving event in the country. It offers people of all levels in the sport, the opportunity to learn and develop their skills. This in turn enhances the abilities of skydivers helping those interested, to further their careers within the skydiving and tourism industry.

There will also be a range of aircraft with the attendance of a Pac 750 Cresco XL, Fletcher, Cessna 172 and an EC130 helicopter, not to mention Motueka’s already busy airport with Microlights, hang gliders and bi-planes it is set to be great for spectators and those passionate about skydiving or aviation. We welcome all spectators there are plenty of viewing areas and refreshments will be available.
