Christchurch general information 

On February 22nd 2011 a powerful earthquake severly damaged our second largest city. Since this time some innovative solutions for retail have popped up in the city centre which are well worth visiting. It is a great time to expereince history in the making. A huge part of the city has to be taken down but this will make way for a brand new state of the art city to takes it place. There are still original stone heritage buildings standing and some very creative use of space and design ideas being set up. 

Christchurch is still known as 'The Garden City' The parks and gardens around the city are wonderful and link up with the Museum which is worth a look. Over the hill from Christc hurch is the beautiful French town of Akaroa. This is well worth the drive and even a night in the local campground. It boosts great food, shops and a very romantic French feeling. There is also some great walks and dlphin trips. You can pick up your campervan in Christchurch and within 1.2 hours be in Akaroa or within 15 minutes be into the country side of the South Island. It is a great place to start your campervan holiday.
