When planning a gap year or career break it’s always a bit of a juggling act trying to make sure you miss the rainy season in each country you’re travelling to. Inevitably some compromises have to be made along the way. I travelled from the UK with my girlfriend through Asia and then on to New Zealand and came to the conclusion that visiting New Zealand outside of their peak summer months (December to Feb) was a compromise worth making to miss the rainy season in Thailand and Malaysia.
