ITINERARY AND PLANNING
This is one of the major benefits of hiring a Spaceship – we have expert local knowledge on the best things to see and do in New Zealand.
Itineraries
Plan your travels using one of our itineraries as a guide (naturally you can do more, spend longer, see other areas - these are just some suggestions). Remember when you pick up your Spaceship we can work out a more detailed itinerary to suit your needs.
7 Day - Departing Auckland
Head south-east from Auckland to the Coromandel region. Check out the beautiful golden sand beaches and if the weather’s good you could chill out here for a couple of days.
14 Day - Departing Auckland
We've come up with a couple of 14 day self drive intineraries departing Auckland. 14 days gives you enough time to explore either of the islands extensively, or if you are keen you can manage to see highlights of both of the islands.
21 Day - Departing Auckland
Head north over the harbour bridge from Auckland, then up via Warkworth to Goat Island marine reserve - hire snorkelling gear and check out the abundant sea life. Stop off at one of the many golden sand beaches (Mangawhai, Cooks Beach, Leigh) for a night or two and then head up to the Bay of Islands. Enjoy one of the many water-based activities in Paihia such as dolphin spotting and swimmin, sailing, kayaking, or catch the ferry over to historic Russell.
7 Day - Departing Christchurch
Quick view of South Island’s West Coast and highlights
14 Day - Departing Christchurch
From Christchurch head north up to Kaikoura and try whale watching or dolphin spotting. Then head up to Picton via Queen Charlotte Sound for a walk and some spectacular coastal views
21 Day - Departing Christchurch
Head west over the scenic Arthurs Pass then head south along the rugged West Coast of the South Island – visit the historic small mining towns on this remote coastline and view the mighty Franz Josef and Fox glaciers.
35 Day NZ Van Tour
Self drive touring New Zealand is the best way to explore this beautiful country. We recommend you allocate at least 35 days to travel New Zealand properly. This gives you some flexibility to allow for weather and spend some extra time in places you fall in love with along the way. This is bound to happen!
