21 day departing Christchurch
Head west over the scenic Arthurs Pass then head south along the rugged West Coast of the South Island – visit the historic small mining towns on this remote coastline and view the mighty Franz Josef and Fox glaciers.
Stop off in Wanaka and Queenstown for amazing scenery, mountain ranges and all the adventure activities you can think of. Head down to Te Anau and see the magnificent fiords of Milford Sound. Enjoy the scenic home stretch from Queenstown to Christchurch via Tekapo with views of Aoraki/Mt Cook.
From Christchurch head north up to Kaikoura and try whale watching or dolphin spotting. Then head up to Picton via Queen Charlotte Sound for a walk and some spectacular coastal views.
Head across on the ferry to the North Island. Head up highway 1 to Tongariro National Park for walks (including Tongariro Crossing) and views of Mordor and Mt Doom. Head up to Taupo to see NZ’s largest lake and try skydiving if you’re keen!
On to Rotorua for some boiling mud, geysers and Maori culture. Head out to the Bay of Plenty and up to the Coromandel for beautiful beaches including Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach and the chance to chill out for awhile at the end of your journey.
Short trip back to Auckland.
