Surf to Summit
Surf to Summit was born in 2011 by a group of kiwi skiers and surfers. The idea was to travel the length of New Zealand to ski and surf five different mountains and breaks in only five days. The Surf to Summit mission involved four high profile kiwi athletes - professional snowboarder Maria Kuzma, pro skier Tom Dunbar, skier and surfer Angus Kebbell and ex pro Alex Herbert who now makes his own skis for the world market.
The weather bomb that came through during the five days created extremely tough and cold conditions with snow failing at sea level. Despite this they battled on to complete the mission and a world record.
Spaceships got involved with Surf to Summit last year and are looking to be a key part again this year as the teams gear up for another epic challenge throughout the rugged South Island of New Zealand.
